Check-in & Baggage at Dresden Airport
Dresden Airport is compact and short on walking distances – a major advantage over mega-airports. To make sure your trip starts smoothly anyway, we have put together the most important information on check-in and baggage for you.
Check-in: online or at the counter
Many airlines offer online check-in – usually 24 to 48 hours before departure. This saves time and often already secures your seat. Anyone checking in luggage or who prefers to check in in person uses the check-in counters in the departure hall.
Recommended time buffer
- within Europe / Mediterranean: arrive at the airport around 2 hours before departure
- for charter flights during peak times (start of school holidays): better to arrive a little earlier
- check-in counters generally close 45 minutes before departure
Free baggage allowance & carry-on baggage
The exact limits for checked and carry-on baggage are set by your airline or your fare – especially with charter airlines and basic fares it is worth checking your booking documents.
- Carry-on baggage: size and weight vary by airline; liquids in containers up to 100 ml in a clear bag.
- Checked baggage: check the free allowance (usually 20–23 kg) and the number of pieces allowed per fare.
- Bulky items (pushchairs, sports equipment) must be registered with the airline in advance.
Security control
Thanks to the compact size, the routes to security control are short. Keep electronics and liquids readily accessible, and you will get through quickly – leaving you time for a coffee before departure.
